Tuesday, October 6, 2009   For Sale: Issues from the Steirischer Heimatbund

A correspondent from Slovenia is looking to sell a number of German-language issues distributed in the Südsteiermark.

The Südsteiermark was a district of German-occupied Yugoslavia that was put under civil administration. It was scheduled to be incorporated into the Greater German Reich. Since this did not actually happen, the Südsteiermark technically remained foreign territory, which meant that Signal could be distributed there.

The district is now a part of Slovenia. For details, see this article on the German Wikipedia: CdZ-Gebiet Untersteiermark.

Some of the issues bear the stamp of the Steirischer Heimatbund, a pro-Nazi organisation of ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche).

The following "Heimatbund" issues are for sale: (updated 31 October 2009):

  • 1942: 8
  • 1943: 15
  • 1944: 2, 5, 8, 10, 13
  • 1945: 1

There are also these generic issues:
  • 1943: 14
  • 1944: 4, 9, 17

Offers may be submitted to the owner by email.
